ROLL FOR ROCK" WHEELCHAIR Events Benefits with Allen Collins of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band in 1988. I met Allen in 1987 and we remained close friends who worked together towards a common goal until his untimely passing in 1990. Our vision when we founded ROLL FOR ROCK was to raise awareness and provide a platform for truly helping paraplegics and those living with other physical challenges. Today, Roll For ROCK continues to educate all people about ways to live and flourish with physical challenges; we host benefit concerts and wheelchair sports events, and we participate in medical research that is seeking a cure for spinal cord injury. I have been a paraplegic since 1981 and I know first hand how spinal cord injury takes a person back to infancy; we have to learn how to live all over again. I am proud of all that ROLL FOR ROCK has accomplished to date, the many people living with physical challenges that we have helped, and I am excited about our future endeavors.
Allen Collins suffered a spinal cord injury in 1986 that abruptly ended his impressive music career and resulted in paralysis. He passed away from complications due to that injury four short years later. ROLL FOR ROCK was created to cooperate with bands and other non-profit organizations to host wheelchair events and concerts to raise funds to benefit regional wheelchair games. Through these rewarding wheelchair games, the participants become more at peace, achieve more acceptances by society and gain enrichment in their lives as they proudly showcase their athletic prowess. Roll For Rock is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all who live with physical challenges and to nurturing and supporting their joy. We are more determined than ever to continue to make Allen’s dreams' a reality today.& have.
ROLL FOR ROCK has expanded and now includes ROLL 4 ROCK Music. On January 1st, 2008, Roll For Rock released the 25th Anniversary re-issue Special Edition of Here, There & Back by the Allen Collins Band. The digitally re-mastered CD contains the last studio recordings of Allen Collins.
Here, There & Back is the only album ever produced by the Allen Collins Band. Highlights include the tracks Chapter One and One Known Soldier, both feature soaring guitar solos by Collins. Roll For Rock is pleased to announce our plans for a promo in cities to benefit LAAC Publishing special priced to Help promote the release of the CD and to pay tribute to our founder, Allen Collins. Proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to ROLL4ROCK MUSIC Authorized to Distribute & RE-Realeased by LAAC Publishing Company and will also enable Roll 4 Rock Owner to have his bread and butter, for 20+ yrs of giving for Allens wishes on limited income , now we are trying to keep it going & a better & more secure site for everyone to enjoy.
